This morning, I found this smashed jar of Ragu Tomato, Basil & Italian Cheese pasta sauce on the sidewalk. It was right in front of the entrance to a popular Italian restaurant. Someone could just have dropped it, but this being the North End, I wonder if it may have been done purposely as a statement on the “Italian-ness” of the establishment. I would think you’d have to throw a jar down to get it to break and splatter that much…
“Up the Big Set of Stairs”
I’m out at Boston College today to do an interview for Boston Behind the Scenes. After I got off the T, I asked a student where the building I needed to go to was, and she started her direction with “Go around this corner and up the big set of stairs…”
For those of you who have ever been to Colgate (or Syracuse University, for that matter), this is NOT a big set of stairs:

Whole Foods Can Be Like Another Planet
I went to Whole Foods yesterday to buy some tasty things for dinner.
I like Whole Foods, as they have many good things for me to eat that I can’t get at a normal store. I also like visits to Whole Foods for their sheer entertainment value. The photos below show tags from “fashionable” Estonian firewood, composite fire logs made of coffee grounds, and aloe that is marketed as food (but only eat the insides, according to that warning on the label).
